The Story Behind 1690
Coffee House Lane takes its name from the historic Waterford lane believed to be home to Ireland’s first coffee house. In 1690, green coffee beans arrived through Waterford’s busy trading port, where they were roasted, brewed, and served by John Aikenhead at his coffee house on Coffee House Lane.
Today, we continue that tradition by sourcing high-quality coffee beans from around the world and roasting them in small batches at our Waterford roastery to ensure exceptional flavour in every cup.
Brewing Notes
Expect a rich aroma with chocolate notes, followed by sweet butterscotch, caramel, and toffee flavours. As an espresso, 1690 delivers a full-bodied, flavour-packed cup, while milk enhances its natural sweetness and creates a smooth, creamy finish.
Suitable for espresso machines, filter coffee, cafetières, and Aeropress brewing methods.
No grinder? Our 1690 Blend is also available freshly ground in the 227g for your preferred brewing method.
