Signal Box
Signal Box is a place that can only be described as “a vibe”, located at Rainbow View, Kilmacthomas, it is a perfect place to go for a cup of coffee while on the Waterford Greenway. But not only does his place provide fantastic teas & coffees, whether you want them hot or iced, caffeinated, or decaffeinated, they have you sorted. They also have coffee for dogs and babies so that they don’t feel left out.
With business already in their blood, both Sorcha & Dearbhla had it on their minds for a while to set up Signal Box before deciding to go for it one day over lunch. They felt like they wanted a change. After purchasing a horse box from one of their neighbours, it was the start of a journey which allowed them to open last year in April.
As time has gone on, there have been many changes to Signal Box to help make it a more friendly atmosphere, with the introduction of benches around the back, as well as the likes of a bike rack and dog treats. One of the best things that they brought to their location was the introduction of their “Puppy Café”, which dogs can use to enjoy their puppuccinos while their owners can post pictures of the event all over social media. As the exterior has been altered over time, so has the menu of signal box, with the introduction of smoothie bowls, edible cups, Freezin’ Friesian ice-creams & Leamhain non-dairy ice-cream sandwiches, pastries, and a tribute to the Kilmacthomas Viaduct they created the “Viaduct on ice”. The girls have really made the menu a ‘one for all’ experience with loads to choose from, even if you have dietary requirements.
Now Signal Box are well on their way to being the hot spot for people to stop at to have a coffee on the greenway, and the one aspect that has never changed is how much the girls love to talk to their customers and have a chat. They mentioned how everyone comes and compliments them on their coffee and how lovely it is. Signal Box have used Coffee House Lanes 1690 blend since they opened in April, and we hope they continue to use our coffee in the future.
So, what’s next for Signal Box? The answer is a lot. As their business keeps growing, the girls are finding more ways to expand their business with the hope of turning a storage container into a shop as well as to introduce toasties to their menu. There is no stopping them from becoming a hot spot on the Waterford Greenway.
